PLAYING SHAKESPEARE - Workshop
Dated On 09-03-2009 :
Second Age present PLAYING SHAKESPEARE - Workshop
An intensive week long Shakespeare workshop.
With Donnacadh O'Briain and Alan Stanford.
From March 30th to April 3rd.
The Workshop
Over the week a group of fifteen actors will work with Alan Stanford on the understanding and delivery of verse, and with Donnacadh O’Briain on scenes and soliloquies from various Shakespeare plays. Participants will develop an understanding of how Shakespeare's verse works and how to unpick the directions inherent in the script.
Through work on monologues, actors will develop an understanding of Shakespeare's use of rhetoric, and how the verse relates to the character's psychological state. In scene work the participants will work together to find the underlying rhythms of the scene, and through that the shifts in situation, stakes and inter-character dynamics.
