ACT & AUDITION 4 CAMERA with John Dawson
Dated On 01-07-2009 :
This intensive, intermediate level master-class in the on-camera experience is ideal for the theatrically-trained and experienced actor making the transition from the stage to film and TV.
DAY ONE & TWO: Working from pre-assigned, short scenes, actors will be taken through a series of exercises that develop their abilities to synchronize body and mind thus enabling them to ‘get under the written text’. These internal processes are stressed simultaneously with the external demands so that the actor will develop his/her relationship with the camera. The difference between theatrical performance and ‘naturalistic/behavioral’ on-camera acting is explored and emphasized. The scenes will be shot in various camera set-ups; the master-shot, the medium shot and close-ups, to simulate the on-set experience.
DAY THREE: Actors are given audition pieces and taken through a series of exercises that enable them to overcome their natural nervousness, develop a strong presence and confidence in their personal ‘choices’ as well as the flexibility to change/adapt to direction and how to prepare for the call back audition.
WHEN: Thursday, July 23rd, Friday, July 24th and
Saturday, July. 10am to 5:30pm each day.
WHERE: City centre location in Stoneybatter (D7) area.
COST: 185.00 Euro (90.00 Euro deposit required by July 12th to enroll)
Class limited to 12 actors.
