Get The Gig!
Dated On 21-10-2009 :
'GET the GIG!' Film & TV AUDITION TECHNIQUE with John Dawson
The audition...that thing that stands between us and the gig, the role that we know we’re right for and know how to do.
Over two, intensive days, this nerve-raking yet necessary step in getting a part is completely deconstructed and turned into a pleasurable experience. Actors are taken through a series of exercises that enable them to overcome their natural nervousness and develop confidence in their personal ‘choices’ when it comes to the given text as well as the flexibility to adapt instantly to direction during the audition.
All the various on-camera auditions are explored: the cold-read, the prepared audition, commercial auditions, the call-back and the interview.
The specific skills needed for naturalistic on-camera acting are emphasized, making it perfect for the theatrically-trained and experienced actor who is making the transition from the stage to the screen.
